It has been exciting to judge a competition, truly global with entries from 4 continents. With more applicant than we could have ever imagined and just one winner it was seriously a challenging job. The competition allows entrepreneurs to get a jump start by working with Kwiqq on the development of the site and business plan. The finalist were announced last week.
The Winner

African Caribbean Society
The winner of the competition is The African Caribbean Socity. The ambition of the company is to unite all university African and Caribbean communities in the UK and abroad. ACS has won consultancy with the Kwiqq team, that includes consultancy with Raj Anand (Europe’s Entrepreneur of the Year and Future 500) developing business and marketing strategies. Entrepreneurial and business development consultancy with Andrew Burke, founding Director of the Bettany Centre for Entrepreneurial Performance and Economics at Cranfield School of Management and Kwiqq’s Non-executive Director. Also consultacy with Kwiqq’s Head of design and development, Daniel James and Colin Seaman respectively.
The Competition
It is important to understand why we felt ACS are winners of the competition. As entrepreneurs, we know it is all about the implementation. We strongly felt the winning company should demonstrate dedication and strive to implement the concept. Further we wanted to see a business model which is self sustainable and could be worked on as the company develops.
With the African Caribbean Society there is a plan to develop the business (extract from their website):
The company also demonstrated strong business model with the testimonials and partnership in place already. The company has also assembled a strong team with Ugochukwu Obi, an ex-finance analyst in the city, as the MD. Assembling a good team indicates the strength of the idea and what the company is trying to achieve.
We also felt that LAN Party PRO (website under construction) is a fantastic idea, which can be transformed into a fantastic business. All participants demonstrated a lot of passion and good communication with the judges.
