Twittering at work

Twittering at work

Twitter is a fantastic tool for engagement with people. It certainly removes the fluffy bits of communication, as seen on social networks, email, videos etc. With only 140 characters to play with, you have to get straight to the point.

Engagement is a two way process. You have to participate in a conversation and contribute to get people communicating back with you. More engagement on Twitter certainly means more followers (although there are some exceptions to the rule).

The graph clearly indicates two things:

  1. Twittering from work is the most effective way to get more followers.
  2. Holidays i.e. not twittering can not only halt gaining followers but actually reduce them.

In essence the above indicates:

  1. TwitterDeck (desktop) V/S Twinkle (iPhone): Tweetdeck‘s capability to track and interact with users is much more effective than Twinkle or any other application on your iPhone.
  2. Churning out useful information all the time: Twitter followers expect useful information of you all the time. If they find no benefit of following you they will terminate the relationship.
  3. Twitter friends forgive and forget: If you have not been able to tweet for a while, you can build up momentum at a later date.
  4. Office environment is perfect to find useful (tweetable) information.
