		<description>I agree Steve! I guess some of the social networks like arpanet later usenet was built for the military. Although I guess SixDegree.com is entirely focused on connecting people, like Facebook does.

Kind of wish these studies would look at the real social landscape though rather than restricting themselves to looking at sites that &#039;look like what we know as social networks today&#039;. In reality people have been being sociable online since it began and destinations like Usenet, community forum sites and even IRC were really social networks in their day.</description>
