Janet, thanks for your comment. Good insight into another advantage of the iPad. I think you are right, my parents can really do with an iPad.

I appreciate your perspective. Another appeal will be a whole new audience - the senior adult. Why do they even have a computer or a Facebook account? To communicate with the grandkids but the iPhone is too small for arthritic hands. This will be so quickly embraced by this older niche. It lacks intimidation. Knowing where your files are doesn't matter because the computer takes care of file management for you.

Once again, Apple has seen what the consumer needs and provided it. I get my news on conventional places like NY Times and USA Today because I don't like the local paper. My folks still subscribe to the local paper but on their computer. They don't have a laptop but they do have wi-fi to accommodate the kids. Now, they can read the paper in a light-weight device that they simply stroke or tap or pinch to get to where they need to go.

Some say this doesn't compete well with the Kindle. Have you seen one of those? I have always trusted the elegant, worry-free creations of Apple and have patiently waited for them to provide this new device. I say they scored big on this one! But I will be waiting for their 2nd generation because I believe it will contain the camera for video chatting :-)
