Facebook cracks down on homemade videos ‘Alleged Copyright Infringement’

Posted by rajanand on Dec 6, 2008 in Dance/Music, Marketing, Personal, Salsa/Reggaeton, Social Web, twitter

I uploaded my video almost two months back, it was a silly home made video expressing how I was addicted to Twitter. Facebook today removed the video:

“We have removed your video entitled “I’m addicted to Twitter” uploaded at 1:39am October 17th, 2008. We did this because we learned that your video might include copyrighted material owned by a third party, such as a video clip or background audio.”

(Read the complete notice below)

Obviously I don’t have (exclusive) rights to use the background audio. I hold my hands up to it, although it clearly shows Facebook is now on to something . Removing homemade videos, is this the Microsoft influence or just advertisers looking for genuine User Generated Content ?

Compare that with YouTube who also actively remove videos infringing copyright, although only when they get too popular or someone actively complains about them. My video only has 137 views (absolutely tiny) and except from being silly and promoting Twitter doesn’t have much to it. Surely Twitter didn’t complain about it. So who did ? If no one complained then why remove the video and annoy users ?

Hello, We have removed your video entitled "I'm addicted to Twitter" uploaded at 1:39am October 17th, 2008. We did this because we learned that your video might include copyrighted material owned by a third party, such as a video clip or background audio. If you are the copyright owner, or have permission from the rights holder to upload and distribute this material on Facebook, you may file a counter notice of alleged infringement by following the link below. Please note that if you re-upload this video without filing a counter notice, or if you upload another video that infringes on the rights of a third party, our system will again remove the content. This could cause your access to the Facebook Video application to be disabled, or your Facebook account to be disabled.

The title perhaps doesn’t do justice to the blog, never the less what I meant is ‘If your business was a person what characteristics would they have ?’  Workaholics, party animals, lazy, clever etc.

I think of my business (Kwiqq) as a person and it comprises of everyone who works for it. If my business was a person it would be someone who works hard plays hard. Kwiqq likes to be involved in things and has much more than just a pure commercial objectives. Kwiqq has a nice sense of humour, Kwiqq is friendly, welcoming and very ambitious !

The characteristic of our business is important because it helps us find the right people to join the business. It tells people the DNA of your business and what they could expect from us.

TripIt adds Blog Badge

Posted by rajanand on Sep 24, 2008 in Europe, Marketing, Personal

Nice little feature for TripIt addicts. TripIt allows users to manage their travel. Its predominantly for the users to manage their own tasks as oppose to sharing it with friends like Dopplr. Although TripIt has now decided to allow sharing of trips with your blog visitors. Mine:

[Update] the card doesn’t work for me. Although the javascript (code) does show in the source. Anyone ?

I’m guessing the feature is aimed at bloggers who travel to a lot of conferences. I guess it is a nice way for TripIt to market their services and for bloggers to showcase their travel.

Kwiqq.com first site on Google for ‘Social Networking Software’

Posted by rajanand on Sep 23, 2008 in Brighton, Europe, Marketing, Personal, Social Web

Right so there are quiet a few phrases for which Kwiqq.com is number one on Google.com (universal and UK):

  • ’social website builder’
  • ’social website software’
  • All ‘Kwiqq’ related phrases
  • Our white paper for ’social website tools’
  • Founders names i.e. ‘Raj Anand’, ‘Jack Fairhall’, ‘Colin Bolt’….

I’m glad to announce that as off yesterday Kwiqq.com are number one for ‘social networking software‘, ‘social network software’ on Google (universally).

social network software - Google Search_1222195683228 by you.

For many it would mean little (I guess as a geek you would understand it better), but it has taken a lot of pain and effort to achieve this without using any external organisation. No buying selling links and no malpractice :)

I’m not sure how long will Kwiqq.com stay there but I’m confident we will be up there for quiet a few keywords in the coming months.

Startup experience

Posted by rajanand on Sep 22, 2008 in startup tip

Whilst Kwiqq’s design team are working on a website focused on the startup culture. We have been discussing about how I started Kwiqq. I realised this information might be useful for someone just starting up. So I will try and add one useful tip everyday. This will be available in the startup tip section.

Tip 1:

Logo is a very important part of the companies future and . Hence its vital that company gets a bespoke logo designed. The logo should not only match your vision and companies theme but also clearly explain its purpose. Any typeface used should be readable. Nothing worst than a brand you can’t read. What do you think of this logo ?
